It means using every shred of cloth, paper, plastic, metal for the survival of somebody else.
Recycling takes on a whole new meaning in a country like India where some children have no clothes to wear in the
cold winters and where a basic necessity like sanitary napkins are an unaffordable luxury for some women.
GOONJ, which means resonance, is an amazing organisation that recycles what is not needed by some, into a
lifeline for others. They collect tens of thousands of kilograms of cloth every month, turning them into something
useable for the very poor - clothing, bags, sanitary napkins, anything.
Its phenomenal work has won GOONJ the NGO of the Year Award in India, the Changemakers Innovation Award,
the World Bank’s Development Market Place Award and many more.
Every day, every hour, GOONJ is changing lives with nothing but rags...
